Words are the only weapon that matters in our modern age.  This is demonstrated by the enormous emphasis on properly managed public opinion practiced by even the most advanced military force in the world, ours.  No amount of guns or bombs can overcome a bad PR situation, not with the advent of the internet.

For this reason it is critical that the 10th Amendment movement take heed of tactics used by the establishment to shape the zeitgeist, often beyond the conscious perception of those targeted.  This battle of words is all important and it is time for the ‘Tenthers’ to assemble the linguistic arsenal that will win the day, beginning with, well, what we call ourselves as individual components of the movement at large.  Are we ‘Tenthers’?  Shall we adopt this condescending label applied by the corporate media and use it to our advantage?  This is the sort of task that lies before those in this forum who currently have their heads together.

Another critical moniker, is that which the opponents of state sovereignty and decentralization bear.  Ideally, this would be a name that conveys the truth of their aims of increasing power for themselves.  I have been using ‘centralizers’, but this just doesn’t strike me as having an appeal to those who currently exist outside of our movement.  Those who have yet to be brought in are, after all, the ones who this new lexicon should be designed to affect.

I submit to all those reading this that now is the time to create our language as a movement.  As Noam Chomsky has been known to suggest, language is culture and the two are inseparable.  Our language is the clothing that we wear as a movement and will be one of the major factors that determine the success of the sovereignty movement.
