Remember when the socialists were telling us all the lies about their unconstitutional government health care bill? Remember the lies about how we supposedly weren’t going to be required to buy health insurance…even though their law clearly says we will?

Even though their bill has a new payroll deduction systemto rob you before you even get a chance to see all the money you’ve earned?

Remember how socialists like Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) insisted this new government requirement for you to fork over your money for health care insurance you may not want isn’t a tax?

Well, now that they have their way, the socialists are starting to admit that, yes, it is a tax.

From (hold onto your hat)  the New York Times:

When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s “power to lay and collect taxes.”

And that power, they say, is even more sweeping than the federal power to regulate interstate commerce.

Administration officials say the tax argument is a linchpin of their legal case in defense of the health care overhaul and its individual mandate, now being challenged in court by more than 20 states and several private organizations.

Once again we are witness to an egregious expansion of federal power, far, far beyond the enumerated powers of our limited government outlined in Article 1 Section 8 and the Tenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Once again we see these enemies of freedom pervert a general statement in the Constitution into a sledge hammer with which to smash the right of the American people to do as they please with their own property and their own lives.

As if we really needed more proof that this unconstitutional government health care plan is a tax, one need only consider the huge increase in involvement of the IRS in enforcing this draconian mandate on the American people.

National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson is quoted in the Wall Street Journal:

Ms. Olson also exposed a damaging provision that she estimates will hit some 30 million sole proprietorships and subchapter S corporations, two million farms and one million charities and other tax-exempt organizations. Prior to ObamaCare, businesses only had to tell the IRS the value of services they purchase. But starting in 2013 they will also have to report the value of goods they buy from a single vendor that total more than $600 annually—including office supplies and the like.

Democrats snuck in this obligation to narrow the mythical “tax gap” of unreported business income, but Ms. Olson says that the tracking costs for small businesses will be “disproportionate as compared with any resulting improvement in tax compliance.” Job creation, here we come . . . at least for the accountants who will attempt to comply with a vast new 1099 reporting burden.

Meanwhile, the IRS will be inundated with useless information, because without a huge upgrade its information systems won’t be able to manage and track the nanodetails.

The founders of our great nation would be outraged and grieved beyond belief if they could see what the free country they created has been perverted into.  They would be astonished that the government they worked so hard to limit in the interest of freedom has grown into a behemoth with a $3 trillion + budget that is intruding into the most personal areas of the lives of the American people.  We are well on our way to becoming a nightmare out of a George Orwell novel.

We the people must wrest control of our government back from these usurpers, starting in November 2010 and again in 2012 and 2014.  Our freedom and the future of our republic depends on it.
