As a result of my attending a protest of Minnesota Governor Dayton signing Obamacare into law in Minnesota, the governor allowed some of us opposing to speak, I was asked if I would and I accepted.

I am a grateful combat veteran…grateful for the opportunity to live in the greatest country the world has ever known.  I love this country.  I still find it an honor to support and defend the Constitution of this country.

In my view, what actually took place today, January 5, 2011, was our governor, who took an oath to support and defend the Constitution on Monday, January 3, 2011, defied that very oath on Wednesday, January 5, 2011

I am opposed to the Health Care bill because I think it is unconstitutional.

I think it is unconstitutional because, when I read the enumerated powers of the federal government in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution I do not find any mention of “health care.”

I also think it is immoral and unconstitutional to force or coerce anyone into buying anything, including health care or health insurance.

I believe in government by the consent of the governed and oppose anything I cannot opt out of.  Huge corporations like McDonalds, Wal-Mart, and others have opted out of the health care bill.   If they can do it, why can’t Average Joe?   I am a big fan of Average Joe and not a big fan of judges or politicians.  I find that most Average Joes are much smarter and much more honest than judges or politicians.

Isn’t the VA socialized medicine?  Yes, kind of.  I say kind of, because everyone doesn’t get it, only military veterans.

Aren’t you a hypocrite for accepting VA benefits and seeking to deny similar benefits to others?

I am not a hypocrite.  I volunteered for service in the military that included a tour in Viet Nam.   Part of my deal with the US Government was that I would risk my life going to war for it and in return it would provide me with medical benefits.  I view that as my contract with the US government.   I still suffer from PTSD from my experience in that unjust and immoral war.   In a perfect world I would not receive VA benefits.  But in a perfect world I would not have risked my life in a war based on lies told to me by my own government.   We don’t live in a perfect world, and until we do the liars who tricked me into risking my life should pay for my healthcare because that was part of my deal with them.  If I could snap my fingers and fix my health problems caused by their lies, I wouldn’t need or want the VA.   Besides, for as long as I can remember, Congress has failed to appropriate the adequate funding asked for by the Veterans Administration for veterans care.  What makes you think they will appropriate adequate funding for recipients of Obamacare?

I believe in the free market and trust that I would be able to obtain adequate health care if the government failed to meet its obligations to me.  I don’t know how, but  if I look at Lasik surgery and cosmetic surgery.   The government is out of these medical services and the prices go down while the quality goes up.   The market is much more powerful than any government and provides better service than the government.  Government is always the problem and is never the solution.

I am not a republican, not a democrat and not a tea party person.  I believe in liberty and government by the consent of the governed, period.  If you want to label me, label me a libertarian.  I would be a constitutionalist if any of our politicians and judges took their oath to defend it as seriously as I do.   But they are all terrified of the 10th Amendment because it is the most important part of the Constitution.   The Supreme Court has found so many crazy things “constitutional” that I cannot call myself a constitutionalist.   Average Joe should have a say in what is constitutional and what is unconstitutional.  That is what the 10th Amendment and the sovereignty movement is about.

I believe most of the problems in our country stem from the Federal Reserve system.  I have a good friend and legal counsel who is educating me on the effects of the Fed.  I don’t pretend to know everything about the Fed, but I know that a system where a small group of people can print money when they need it is potentially corrupt.  Our money is dross and that I think is the root cause of a lot of our problems.
