So... Have you look at the statistics? Just asking... You have a greater chance to be shot to death at the mall than die in a terrorist attack. In case you hadn't realized, the scanners can't see anything concealed in your body but I'm sure dogs would be able to sniff it. Anyway, if you have time, just try to find out how many people died in a car crash just today. Then compare it with the amount of people who died both in a plane terrorist attack and in any other terrorist attck in our country since September 11. Maybe you'll start thinking on your own instead of believing the bullshit your government is telling you.

There were no terrorist attacks when the TSA was simply screening people with their metal detectors. Why do we need "enhanced" pat downs and "enhanced" screenings of our citizens by untrained, uneducated, non-citizen goons? Try 1,000 scanners X $200,000 each equals 200 million dollars. And, Obama signed that contract.

Keep up your good work.

Jayratch,
notice how it was not in quotes, and I did not bastardize the quote. Whether this was actually said by franklin is not the point. I am not falsely attributing my opinion to ben franklin, simply agreeing with him. Yes exposing my body to dangerous radiation or an enhanced patdown is a 4th amendment violation. sorry that you don't see it that way. this is exactly the tradeoff they are asking us to make. we should waive our 4th amendment rights as a condition of getting on an airplane so we can be "safe" (temporary security). . the funny thing is we are getting neither. because as I said it is a THEATER. we all know that. do you really think you are safer? really? this is a perfect application of this quote widely attributed to ben franklin. the more we ask the government to protect and take care of us, the less free we are. i don't want the government trying to keep me safe by assaulting me at an airport. i guess you do. everybody is entitled to their opinion, for at least a little longer anyway.

Actually, the quote is "those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." He went on to talk about self defense.

This is perhaps the single most bastardized quote from libertarians, and poorly attributed at that; it's attribution to Franklin is not known with great certainty. But the essence of the misquote is "essential liberty." Is privacy, in an airport, an essential liberty? Is the possible avoidance of violent death a little temporary safety?

You can argue those questions as much as you like, but please don't invent a false dichotomy between unsafe freedom and safe tyranny, sans middle ground, by falsely attributing your opinion to a libertine liberal diplomat.

Put your entirely irrational fear aside for a moment and consider these three thoughts.

1 - You are far more likely to die in an automobile collision on your way to the airport than from a terrorist attack.

2 - You are far more likely to die from pilot error or mechanical failure than from a terrorist attack.

3 - If you still choose to live in fear, then stay home. You can choose to waive YOUR Constitutional rights...you can not waive anybody else's rights. To think that everyone else should be denied their rights to appease your irrational fears is not only incredibly selfish, but inherently un-American.
