On May 24, 2011, Texas Rep. David Simpson (R-Longview) wrote Gov. Rick Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, House Speaker Rep. Joe Straus and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott regarding HB 1937 (Texas push-back on TSA abuse) a letter. In that letter Rep. Simpson wisely stated:

Gentlemen, we find ourselves at a watershed moment today. The federal government is attempting to deprive the citizens of Texas of their constitutional rights under the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution and Article 1, Section 9 of the Texas Constitution. If we do not stand for our citizens in the face of this deprivation of their personal rights and dignity, who will?

As we all now know, Lt. Gov. Dewhurst, fearing federal threats of reprisals, convinced a majority of Texas senators, who had earlier committed their support to this bill, to flip-flop leaving the senate bill sponsor, Sen. Dan Patrick, high and dry. The bill died before it could be heard on the senate floor.

Following this fiasco, a tsunami of angry phone calls, emails and faxes and, in some cases, personal visits to Lt. Gov. Dewhurst and senate members resulted in the Lt. Governor reversing his earlier position by requesting Gov. Perry now make Simpson’s bill a subject of special interest, in essence, resurrecting HB 1937 and moving it to the senate floor for a hearing.

Two actions must now happen: (1) the bill must be filed (DONE!), and; (2) Governor Perry must request the bill be sent to him.

On June 4, 2011, speaking to a pro-HB 1937 crowd of Patriots on the south steps of the Texas capitol, I witnessed Rep. Simpson state Sen. Patrick filed this bill (Senate Bill (SB) 29).  SB 29 was, in fact, filed by Sen. Patrick on June 2, 2011.

Now, Gov. Perry MUST call for SB 29 to be brought before him for review. Here’s where YOU, Texas citizen-Patriots, come in:

If YOU believe the federal goons at our nation’s airports have exceeded their “bounds” by groping and grabbing you, your wife, your children, your elderly parents, etc. then YOU MUST CONTACT GOVERNOR PERRY AND DEMAND HE BRING FORWARD SB 29 TO THE SENATE FLOOR TO BE HEARD AND, SUBSEQUENTLY, SENT TO HIM!

How?

Contact Gov. Perry directly via his website: http://www.governor.state.tx.us/contact/ OR…

 Call Gov. Perry’s office at 800-252-9600 or 512-463-2000 OR…

 Write Gov. Perry at:

P.O. Box 12428
Austin, Texas 78711-2428

In the last paragraph of his book, Fed Up!, Governor Rick Perry eloquently writes:

“We need a few good Patriots who are fed up with the status quo, armed with the Constitution, and fueled with courage to stand in the gap for future generations and to preserve for them the greatest beacon of hope, freedom and prosperity the world has ever known.”

Governor Perry, We, the People, of the sovereign state of Texas, are FED UP to the max with all forms of federal tyranny levied upon us by the central government—the least of which being this brutal and anti-constitutional form of physical abuse and mental duress from the likes of the TSA. Travel by air in this country is a RIGHT; it is not a privilege as the TSA claims it to be. The citizens of Texas—YOUR PEOPLE—DEMAND YOU INTERVENE IMMEDIATELY and call for SB 29 to be brought to you AND PASSED INTO LAW BY YOU. Know that we, Texans, have never been one to run from a fight with a tyrant and will stand up against tyranny of any kind. Gen. Santa Anna and the tyrannical Mexican government learned that lesson the hard way.

The eyes of all Texas, and indeed the country, are upon you, sir. Will you stand fast and fight for Texans or will you leave us naked and defenseless for the federal wolves to devour?
