Look. I’ve heard some of the talk, and I figured I’d better explain how my role in all of this came about. No, I’m not some political junkie who enjoys a good ego stroking whenever I backslap with the local XYZ intellectual society.

I’m just a normal guy who grew up in a small town in northwest Missouri. I’m not famous. I don’t know anyone famous. And I certainly don’t have vast economic resources to dump into a cause that just happens to “strike my fancy”.

So when I first contacted Michael Boldin at the Tenth Amendment Center in regards to bringing a Nullify Now! Event to Kansas City, it wasn’t over Democrat or Republican issues, or that I prefer pizza over hot-dogs. Rather, it’s because I truly believed (and still do) that the heartland state of Missouri is an impassioned and strategic community of freedom-loving individuals who sincerely seek the restoration of our Constitutional Republic.

Yeah, I know. Restoring the Constitutional Republic sounds good, but what’s the actual plan? Thomas E. Woods, who is speaking at the August 20 Kansas City event, has written a book called Nullification: How to Resist Federal Tyranny in the 21st Century. In it, he promotes returning to a Jeffersonian ideal of nullification -not because it’s cute – but because it’s one of the strongest constitutionally advocated tools against Federal bullying we have available. Because as our Founders envisioned, if the individual states choose not to enforce unconstitutional federal laws, then it’s the states – not the Federal Government – that are protecting their community interests.

But sadly, we’ve fallen down on our individual responsibility – and now have to contend with TSA groping, extending Federal Debt Limits, ObamaCare, Tax abuse, Eminent Domain issues, inheritance theft, Activist Judges, social security, CCTV cameras, and more. With each year that goes by, Federal Government and mob-rule continues to strip away the foundational laws our nation was built upon, and increasingly stifles the voice of our local community.

Quite a ride, isn’t it? But take heart. The best is yet to come! With countless individuals (representing numerous groups from Kansas and Missouri) joining together to bring this history-making conference to our people, the message is clear. We’re ready to take our stand for responsible government through foundational truth – and we’re not backing down! As Joseph Sunde at the Remnant Culture says, “The general point is this: When we are allowed to compete at local levels — in both economic and social policymaking — it is much easier to correctly identify what works and what doesn’t, and thus we are better equipped to innovate when it comes to societal governance.”

Are you with us? With Kansas City’s Nullify Now event only a handful of days away, time is quickly running out for YOU to be not only an important part of Missouri history – but a part of our future as well!
