Yet Again with Mica the Mountebank

Several of you have been kind enough to forward me Rep[ulsive] John Mica’s [R-FL] interview with Human Events in which he blasts the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Thanks. I didn’t rush to read it because this is old news: Mica has pretty much made a career out of bashing – rightfully so – the agency he foisted on us. And I’ve written about his previous and phony fits of criticism several times.

While I welcome any denunciation of the TSA’s pedophiles and perverts, Mica’s is disgustingly disingenuous. The sociopath is on his tenth term in Congress; in fact, he’s done little in his life except mooch off taxpayers. So unless he’s a complete moron (which I certainly don’t rule out), he understands how government functions. And yet he wants us to believe he had no idea that the TSA would “[mushroom] into an army,” nor that it would “[go] from a couple-billion-dollar enterprise to close to $9 billion.” Since when have bureaucracies done anything but expand and waste ever increasing amounts of our money? 
“The whole thing is a complete fiasco,” he wailed.

Ah, but Congress is, too. Let that comfort you, John, since misery loves company.

Listening to this hypocrite protest that he never, ever envisioned the TSA’s engorgement is like listening to the weatherman’s shock that the sun rose this morning. In the east, no less.

I especially enjoyed this logical impossibility: “… Mica said screeners should be privatized and the agency dismantled. Instead, the agency should number no more than 5,000, and carry out his original intent…” That’s about what we’d expect from Mica, but shouldn’t the writer have caught it? Alas,  we’ll give this “award-winning investigative journalist,” a pass: she’s “a Congressional Correspondent for HUMAN EVENTS … [who has] worked inside the Beltway for nearly two decades — on Capitol Hill as a Senate and House spokeswoman, and most recently at The Washington Times covering Congress, Homeland Security, and the Supreme Court.” That would turn anyone’s brain to pablum.
