When a government is performing its proper duties, the people enjoy enjoy liberty and are personally responsible to respect the rights of one another. When a group or an individual violates the life, liberty or property of another iit is the responsibility of the government to take action to protect the citizen’s rights.

When a government seeks to prevent the misconduct of individuals, they are do so by making laws that punish undesireable behavior. When government begins to make efforts to control the people, the seeds of tyranny are planted. The City government was not created to control the residents, it was created to be the guardian of our liberty.

Every action taken by the City Council either supports a little more liberty or a little more tyranny. If we make laws that seek to control behavior in order to promote and achieve public safety, we are abusing the rights of the people for the greater good of the greater number.

This philosophy is the foundation of Communism and is exactly what our founding fathers wanted to prevent. They wanted to create an environment where the people had the unalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The government’s assignment was to establish justice by holding guilty people responsible and by allowing everyone else to do whatever they wanted as long as they did not the life, liberty and property of one of their fellow citizens.

When the governmen steps in and begins the process of controlling us, they become the abuser and not the defender of the Constitution and the rights of the people that they were elected to serve.
