The list of states introducing sound money legislation continues to grow. The Missouri Sound Money Act of 2012 was introduced by Representative Paul Curtman as HB1637 and has been assigned to the House Ways and Means Committee.
The bill seeks to make law, among other things, the following:
“Gold and silver issued by the federal government is legal tender in this state”
The committee’s chairman, Rep. Andrew Koenig, is a co-sponsor of the bill. This makes it likely that the bill will get a floor vote this year. In South Carolina, the bill introduced in 2011 is still open through the 2012 session. Proponents there are working to move it through committee as well, hoping to see it get a vote this session.
A clear message is beginning to take shape. Washington D.C. – we the people of the several states are not pleased with your policies. We are not pleased with your legislation. We are not pleased with your handling of our economy, nor your relationship with the Federal Reserve, which continues to blindly devalue our national currency. So, we the people of the several states are going to move to protect ourselves through the constitutional means available to us. That means the Tenth Amendment, Article 1 Section’s 8 and 10, and in fact the entire Constitution!
Like the “Elvis” sightings of the 80’s, the document that Washington D.C. believes is dead is being sighted in public all across this nation. Yet unlike Elvis, the Constitution is not dead. It is, in fact still alive and kicking. And it may very soon kick some gold and silver legal tender into a depository in your state. Some of it may even have your name on it. If that is something you would like to see, then contact your representatives and ask them to support sound money in your state! Momentum is growing. Be a part of history.
