Now that we are approaching a majority of states opposing state health care exchanges, is the fact that the states have rights starting to catch on? Would success of striking down โ€Obamacareโ€ encourage states to take further action against all unconstitutional acts made by the federal government?

With states passing and/or amending their own state constitutions with such things as, health care freedom acts, firearm freedom acts, changing laws on marijuana use both medical and recreational, the thought of states completely governing themselves where the federal government doesnโ€™t have the enumerated powers stated in the constitution is growing! But why is this such a โ€œnew idea?โ€ This is exactly what our founding fathers intended for this country. They expressed this in their writings, the declaration of independence, the articles of confederation and the constitution would have never been ratified without the bill of rights.

What people are starting to realize is that there is no such thing as a sovereign government at any level and that people are in fact the only sovereigns. That the state is just a middle man between the people and the federal government. That the states entered into a โ€œcontractโ€ with the federal government but also have the option to leave from the โ€œcontractโ€ at any point if the people feel itโ€™s necessary. Also that everyone in government is elected by and works for the people and they are supposed to represent them regardless if those representatives agree with the people or not.

People are also starting to fight federal government actions such as NDAA, Patriot Act, TSA etc. because they all violate the constitution, period! But whatโ€™s the reason behind the health care exchanges thatโ€™s making the states flex their rights and at the rate itโ€™s currently expanding?

For one, If “Obamacare” were to be implemented across the country it would noticeably affect everyone immediately and financial. And whether itโ€™s the price of gas increasing or food at your local grocery store, price increases, with our current state of economy, are bound to make people take immediate notice. But more importantly, I believe itโ€™s the government force involved behind the law that are really creating the resistance. Ron Paul said in an interview, โ€œThe issue is not whether Congress can compel commerce by forcing you to buy insurance, or simply compel you to pay a tax if you donโ€™t. The issue is that this compulsion implies the use of government force against those who refuse. The fundamental hallmark of a free society should be the rejection of force. In a free society, therefore, individuals could opt out of โ€œObamacareโ€ without paying a government tribute.โ€

But if we can stop โ€œObamacareโ€, then hopefully it will open everyoneโ€™s eyes to nullification and statesโ€™ rights via the tenth amendment. Hopefully it would create a wave of success to help us nullify everything else unconstitutional the federal government is doing. Arizona is one of the states that passed a โ€œHealth Care Freedom Actโ€ in 2010 with Prop 106. This was an actual amendment to the Arizona constitution with article 27, section 2.ย  Arizona also made its first attempt to strike down NDAA but was vetoed by our lovely governor earlier this year. But even though theย Governors trackย recordย when standing up againstย President Obama is rather weak,ย we’re not going to give up that easily! Arizona is currently working on a few nullification efforts and are waiting on Governor Brewerโ€™s decision on the state health care exchange.
