Steve, I truly enjoyed reading your clear and concise explanation regarding out-of-control federal taxation and spending. 1913 was a banner year for the progressive elites’ takeover of our constitutional representation and individual freedoms. Not only the federal reserve, but the 16th and 17th Amendments as well. This empowering increase of tax revenue along with the 17th stole the respective states’ national voice. The anti-federalist commentator Brutus wrote “…the authority to lay and collect taxes is the most important of any power that can be granted; it connects with it almost all other powers … it is the great means of protection, security, and defence, in a good government, and the great engine of oppression and tyranny in a bad one.”. So we have observed today and as you’ve nicely defined. As a military veteran, the abusive power-grab exhibited by our country’s civilian leadership has become personal. While America’s patriots spilled their sweat and blood upon the battlefield, the socialist wannabe demagogues and their bureaucratic elitists played their parlor games and undermined everything those brave souls fought to secure.
