Illinois: Act Now to Nullify Drone Spying

Illinois SB1587, Freedom from Drone Surveillance Act, is up for a hearing and possible vote in the State Senate Committee on Criminal Law.  Your help is needed right now to move this bill forward!

California Action Alert: Nullify NDAA Indefinite Detention, Calls Needed Now

Introduced in the California State Assembly this month is a bill that would oppose and nullify “indefinite detention” under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2012.  Your Action is needed right now to help move this legislation forward!

Assembly Bill 351 (AB351) reads in part:

It is the policy of this state to refuse to provide material support for or to participate in any way with the implementation within this state of Sections 1021 and 1022 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 (Public Law 112-81)

It also provides for criminal penalties for attempting “indefinite detention” in California:

(1) An officer, agent, or employee of the United States or an employee of a corporation providing services to the United States who enforces or attempts to enforce Section 1021 or 1022 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 (Public Law 112-81) is guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to imprisonment in a county jail for up to one year, a fine of not more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or both imprisonment and the fine.

A modified version of the Liberty Preservation Act released by the Tenth Amendment Center, AB351 has been assigned to the Committee on Public Safety.   It will first require a hearing and approval by the committee.  Your help in this process is needed immediately!

Massachusetts: Act Now to Help Nullify NDAA “Indefinite Detention”

Massachusetts HB1428, The Liberty Preservation Act to nullify NDAA indefinite detention, has been introduced and sent to the Judiciary committee.  It first needs a committee hearing to move forward – and your help is essential in making that happen.

House Bill 1428 was filed by a democratic representative after a citizen of Massachusetts petitioned the State House. To nullify ‘Indefinite detention’ in Massachusetts, residents need to contact the committee to request that a hearing be scheduled. The link to the bill can be found here.

Kentucky Action Alert: Help Pass the 2nd Amendment Preservation Act

Kentucky’s SB129, The 2nd Amendment Preservation Act, has passed the Senate by a vote of 34-3 and is on to the State House for concurrence.  If passed, SB129 would make state law that “Any federal law, rule, regulation, or order created on or after January 1, 2013…shall be unenforceable within the borders of Kentucky if the law, rule, regulation, order, amendment, or other change attempts to: (a) Ban or restrict ownership of a semi-automatic firearm, magazine, or other firearm accessory; or (b) Require any firearm, magazine, or other firearm accessory to be registered in any manner.”
