Kansas House bill 2199 is one of the strongest in the country to defend the right to keep and bear arms.  It passed the house with a vote 94-29, and has moved on to the Senate. HB2199 has been referred to the Senate Committee on Federalism and State Affairs for concurrence.  Inside sources tell us that this is going to be a VERY close vote, so your help is needed now.

HB 2199 was defended by House Representative Hildabrand on the house floor. He stated,  “The citizens of Kansas do not belong to the United States. The United States belongs to the citizens of Kansas! We cannot allow the response, “I was following orders” to be an excuse for violating our Constitutional rights. How many atrocities have been committed in history by people simply following orders?”

The Tenth Amendment center urges your immediate action in support of HB2199.

1. Contact the Senate Committee Chair.  Politely request that the chairman schedule a hearing for HB2199.  Also request that he vote YES to move the bill to the State Senate.

2. Contact the rest of the members of the Senate Committee on Federalism and State Affairs.  Strongly, but respectfully, let each member know that you expect nothing less than a YES vote on HB2199.  Inform each of them that “shall not be infringed” leaves no wiggle room and this legislation protects your rights.

3. Encourage your local community to take action as well.  Present the 2nd Amendment Preservation Act to your city county, your town council, or your county commissioners.  Various local governments around the country are already passing similar resolutions and ordinances.  Local legislative action present a great way to strengthen a statewide campaign against 2nd Amendment violations
