ANY act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the government of the United States which violates the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States is null, void and unenforceable in the State of Kansas.” -Second Amendment Protection Act  [emphasis added]

So echoed the city of Easton, KS on September 3rd with the passing of Ordinance No. 2013-3. Easton is the third Kansas city to adopt such a measure and joins with Herndon and Muscotah in the defense of the 2nd Amendment.

In August, Herndon, KS Mayor, Kenny Chartier, challenged “[every] municipality, city and town in the state of Kansas [with] an e-mail address” to adopt measures to support Kansas’ Second Amendment Protection Act. Easton City Clerk, Jere Chieppo, took the initiative.

“I made copies for [Mayor Phillip Mires] and [the] council for their next meeting. They liked the information and wanted to pass the ordinance for Easton… There were 4 (out of 5) council members present and all 4 voted in favor of it. The absentee member was in favor of it once she found out about it.”

In “[refusing] to co-operate with the officers of the Union,” Easton has created, as James Madison noted in Federalist 46, “very serious impediments… [and] obstructions which the federal government would hardly be willing to encounter.” As the feds rely heavily on state, county, and municipal resources to do their bidding, such impediments, when carried out by several cities and counties within a single state, can make unconstitutional laws, as Judge Andrew Napolitano has said, “nearly impossible to enforce.”

“No agency of the City of Easton, KS, or person in the employ of the City of Easton, KS shall enforce, provide material support for, or participate in any way in the enforcement of any act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the government of the United States regarding personal firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition within the Boundary of this City of Easton, KS.” -ORD. 2013-03; Easton, KS.
