In a revelation that should be a surprise to nobody, The New York Times recently reported  that the NSA conducted a secret program that collected the cell phone data of Americans in order to track their location.

This program ran from 2010 to 2011 and used data from cell towers to track the location of users’ cell phones, according to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Essentially, the NSA was using phone data to virtually follow people.

An official familiar with the test project said its purpose was to see how the locational data would flow into the N.S.A.’s systems. While real data was used, it was never drawn upon in any investigation, the official said. It was unclear how many Americans’ locational data was collected as part of the project, whether the agency has held on to that information or why the program did not go forward, according to the Times.

The program is now allegedly discontinued, but Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) does not feel that we know the whole truth about it.

“After years of stonewalling on whether the government has ever tracked or planned to track the location of law-abiding Americans through their cellphones, once again, the intelligence leadership has decided to leave most of the real story secret — even when the truth would not compromise national security,” Wyden told to the Times.

With a record of deception that would make Bill Clinton blush, we cannot safely assume that the NSA is telling the truth. Mr. Clapper, after all, was revealed to be an oath-breaker and a perjurer by Edward Snowden’s leaks last summer.

We cannot wait around while our government commits criminal behavior, gets caught red-handed, and moves on with zero accountability or repercussions. When the proven liars say that they’ve tracked our cell phone locations, but they’ve stopped, they expect us to breathe a sigh or relief and think everything is fine. We cannot fall into that trap. Everything is NOT fine, and God only knows what monstrous behavior the NSA is really up to behind closed doors.

We’ve seen what happens when government is allowed to run roughshod over the Constitution unchecked, and it is not pretty. The present state of the Republic is a testament to that. That is why we must take it upon ourselves to make sure that the Constitution is protected.

We can show the NSA who’s boss with our 4th Amendment Protection Act.

The 4th Amendment Protection Act cuts off the NSA facilities from the people’s resources. The NSA requires an amazing amount of public resources to conduct their spying operation. Our bill takes those resources out of the hands of Big Brother and gives them back to the people. In addition to helping the environment and preserving precious natural resources for the people, the 4th Amendment Protection Act also keeps the prying bureaucrats off your back.

Instead of waiting for the federal government to self-regulate and fix itself, get into action and take matters into your own hands. We have local and state versions that you can use to stop the NSA once and for all. Take full advantage of the fact that the federal thugs need our resources in order to facilitate their Orwellian desires and use it against them.
