On Jan. 30th, Senator Kelli Ward of Arizona introduced the Second Amendment Preservation Act SB1294.  The legislation would prohibits the state from enforcing “any federal act, law, order, rule or regulation that relates to a personal firearm, firearm accessory or ammunition within the limits of this state.” Judge Andrew Napolitano has said that such legislation would make federal gun laws “nearly impossible to enforce.” (Read more about it here)

STATUS – 02-10-14, Judiciary commitee hearing and vote. It will need to pass by majority vote to move on to the next stage.

YOUR ACTION IS NEEDED NOW.  It doesn’t matter where Arizona you live, take these actions today.

1. Call the committee chair and vice-chair.  Be strong, but respectful. Urge them to support SB1294 and move the bill forward in their committee. If they do not commit to a YES vote, ask them why.

A phone call has as much as 10x the impact of an email.

The committee Chairman Rick Murphy  (602) 926-4444
The committee Vice-Chairman Adam Driggs (602) 926-3016

2.  Call the rest of the committee members.  Again, be strong, but respectful. Urge each of them to take action to move the bill forward and vote YES on SB1294.  If they do not commit to a YES vote, ask them why.  If they’re undecided, let them know you’ll call back in a few days.

Nancy Barto (602) 926-5766
David Bradley (602) 926-5262
Andrea Dalessandro (602) 926-5342
Steve Gallardo (602) 926-5830

3.  Call Back – any NO or UNDECIDED – in 1-2 days.  Ask if they’ve had a chance to review the legislation and what their opposition might be.   Email us at info@tenthamendmentcenter.com with any information you get.

5.  on Twitter?  Retweet!

6.  Write a letter to the editor Look up your local newspaper and submit a letter to the editor voicing your support for SB1294. It’s essential that Arizona no longer help but actively oppose the federal government’s attacks on the Second Amendment. Passing SB1294 will start that process.
