SB5012, a bill that would legalize industrial hemp for production within the state of Washington, was introduced on Jan. 12 by State Senators Brian Hatfield (D-Raymond) and Jim Honeyford (R-Sunnyside). It will need to pass through the Senate Agriculture, Water & Rural Economic Development Committee before the full senate can vote on this bill.

PLEASE TAKE THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS – It doesn’t matter where you live in the state, please follow all these steps to support SB5012.

1. Call the Senate Agriculture, Water & Rural Economic Development Committee Chair, Judy Warnick. Strongly, but respectfully urge her to move this important bill forward to a vote in her committee.

(360) 786-7624

2. Call the rest of the committee members. Again, be strong, but respectful. Urge each of them to take action to move the bill forward and vote YES on SB5012. If they do not commit to a YES vote, ask them why. If they’re undecided, let them know you’ll call back in a few days.
