Missouri Committee Passes Bill to Limit ALPR Data, Help Block National License Plate Tracking Program

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (March 2, 2017) – Today, a Missouri Senate committee passed a bill that would put limitations on the storage and sharing of information collected by law enforcement agencies using Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) in the state, and place significant roadblocks in the way of a federal program using states to help track the location of millions of everyday people through pictures of their license plates.

Indiana Senate Passes Bill Taking on Asset Forfeiture, Closing Federal Loophole

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 2, 2017) – On Tuesday, the Indiana Senate passed a bill that would reform the state’s asset forfeiture laws to prohibit the state from taking property without a criminal conviction. The legislation also takes on federal forfeiture programs by banning prosecutors from circumventing state laws by passing cases off to the feds.
