There are only THREE crimes that permit constitutional police action on the part of the Federal government- treason, counterfeiting and piracy- so one has to wonder which of those crimes was alleged when a Predator B drone was used by the Feds to arrest three alleged cow thieves in North Dakota this past summer. Since the probable cause leading to the arrest was allegations of (cow) theft, I think it’s clear that this drone mission did not sit within the parameters of the constitution.

We live in a fascinating age, for at a time when some sheriffs seem ready to truly carry out their oath to defend the constitution, others like Nelson County Sheriff Kelly Janke are happy to help destroy it rather than approach an armed family of farmers. Sheriff Janke called in the drone from Grand Forks Air Force Base, the first of what may be as many as 3 dozen such Predator flights since then.

Moving right along to another curious recent phenomenon since the Feds got into the business of guarding individual industries such as the film and music biz. Who can explain to me why the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center should exist at all? Yes- it’s called movie/music/software piracy, but that is really theft. Piracy as referenced in the constitution (one of the three reasons a Federal cop should act) is the kind with boats and guns involved. Again, we see almost total disregard for the founders design with the very existence NIPRCC, a Federal entity created under Clinton more than 10 years ago “as a response to congressional criticism of federal enforcement efforts in the 1990s.”

Somebody ought to have stood up in congress in those days and made it clear- the only time Federal law enforcement is constitutionally used, is in response to just THREE crimes. There was no such champion back then, surely now it is up to We the People to do just that TODAY.

Though many living in New England today might be loathe to admit it, there is a long history of nullification being used in the region to defy unconstitutional federal edicts. This week, the town of Sedgwick, Maine voted to carry on that proud tradition by nullifying certain federal agricultural regulations.

They did so through what might be the most legitimate form of democratic expression left in America: the New England town meeting. (Which have been held in the Sedgwick town hall since 1794.)

According to one report, the residents of Sedgwick voted to enact a law that not only permits

“Sedgwick citizens…to produce, process, sell, purchase, and consume local foods of their choosing,”

but declares that

“It shall be unlawful for any law or regulation adopted by the state or federal government to interfere with the rights recognized by this Ordinance.”

What about potential legal liability and state or federal inspections? It’s all up to the seller and buyer to negotiate. “Patrons purchasing food for home consumption may enter into private agreements with those producers or processors of local foods to waive any liability for the consumption of that food. Producers or processors of local foods shall be exempt from licensure and inspection requirements for that food as long as those agreements are in effect.”

This is so basic and yet so revolutionary.

In these days when petty tyrants seem to be at the helm of every government agency, imposing their arbitrary and destructive will upon a cowering citizenry, it is refreshing to know that there are still people with the courage and capacity to stand up and say “Not in our town.”

I can’t wait for the trolls to try and claim that, like medical marijuana, what happened in Sedgwick can’t be nullification because the Supreme Court said it doesn’t exist.

In the Roman empire, it was treason to insult or make fun of the emperor, to “injure his majesty.” This is true in all unfree countries, to protect the state and its head, and as the American empire becomes ever more authoritarian, here too. Not that this is anything new in the US context.

John Adams’s Sedition Act of 1798, under which Americans were fined and jailed, was of this ancient and evil tradition, as was the Apostle Woodrow’s Sedition Act of 1918, which was never repealed.

Recently, an English teenager sent an insulting email to Obama, and the praetorian guards, FBI division, have banned the kid for life from ever visiting the Homeland, by mere edict. There is a lesson here: Never send a message to any part of the imperial regime. It will only be added to your NSA dossier, and has no chance of doing any good. Withdraw your consent. At the very least, don’t participate in the civic hoax.

This latest outrage just reminds us of the folly of government airline security. Supposedly there to protect us against terrorists, the TSA works with police and law enforcement agencies when it detects behavior it deems suspicious—which in many cases can lead to crackdowns on victimless crimes or invasions into the private lives of travelers. Kathy Parker for Maryland was scrutinized, and her checks questioned by police, all because they were allegedly almost sequential. Accusing her of fraud and embezzling and then calling her husband to warn him of a “divorce situation,” these government officials had no compunctions about overstepping the boundaries of Parker’s family and financial life. She felt “humiliated.” Well of course she did, and bigger and smaller incidents of humiliation occur many thousands of times a day in America’s airports, thanks to the Bush administration and Congressional Democrats who pushed for nationalizing airport security in the aftermath of 9/11.

Meanwhile, the new X-ray scanners appear to subject passengers to 20 times the radiation previously estimated, which could cause problems for up to 1/20 of the population — children and those with gene mutations, especially. Government, as always, is hazardous to your health. Yet another reason to let airline security, as with everything that’s important, be handled by the private sector.

On virtually all the major civil liberties issues of the Bush era, the Obama administration has followed its predecessor’s example. Detention without trial has continued. Torturers will not be investigated. Warrantless surveillance of the citizenry goes on uninterrupted. What’s more, by vindicating these policies as a left-liberal Democrat, Obama has solidified them in American political culture, making them a bipartisan, regular feature of the U.S. national-security landscape. Under Bush, many of these policies were controversial. Now they are simply to be taken for granted. You don’t have to take my word for it. The ACLU seems to agree emphatically, with a worthwhile paper “Establishing a New Normal,” looking at the first year and a half of Obama’s reign and concluding that “[t]here is a real danger. . . that the Obama administration will preside over the creation of a ‘new normal.’”

This was mostly predictable, of course. When the party in power changes, one of the most reliable consequences is the entrenchment of the other party’s policies into the mainstream. Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford and the Republicans who followed made the New Deal and Great Society permanent. So too do the excesses of Republican rule become as bipartisan as apple pie once a Democrat has presided over the same excesses for a year or so.

If this article doesn’t frighten you, it’s probably because you aren’t doing anything that really threatens to limit big government. As I read this article, a sinking feeling started to develop in the pit of my stomach. Is this what happens when patriotic citizens and state legislators begin to actually challenge entrenched RINOs and upset the statist quo? Frankly, it’s more than a little scary.

In my own state, there are many Republicans in the Arizona State Legislature who have taken bold steps designed to restrain an overreaching federal government. There are huge numbers of citizens and grassroots liberty activists who have their back. I wish I could say there were a few courageous Democrats holding or running for state office standing with them, but at this time I can’t. There are also many Republican, Independent and third party liberty candidates running for state office who are ready to join the fight.

The Inquisiton has a few questions to ask you...

In his recent article, The Plunderbund’s Persecution of Phil Hart, investigative journalist William Norman Grigg gives us a look at how the powerful are seeking to neutralize or destroy one Republican state legislator who rocked the boat by daring to question the constitutionality of some of what the federal government does. I hope it will not happen in Arizona the way it’s happening in Idaho. But if and when steps are taken to introduce Federal Tax Escrow Legislation in Arizona, similar to the bill introduced by Washington state legislator Matthew Shea, who is also mentioned in Will’s article, I suspect it might.

Idaho State Rep. Phil Hart

However, one almost has to expect it, prepare for it and call it what it is when it rears its ugly head: A Political Inquisition. The federal government has no need to send in tanks to crush what they might perceive to be an attempt by states to assert their sovereignty through nullification. They have a much more intimidating weapon: The IRS. Will Grigg’s article is a glimpse into the future of an Obama nation. Remember Obama’s request for 16,000 additional I.R.S. agents?

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. But we shouldn’t kid ourselves or be naive. Will’s article gives us a look of what stage 3 of that 4 stage process described by Ghandi might look like in your state, and it can get pretty nasty and scary. Are we prepared?

The signers of the Declaration of Independence pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor in support of the principles of the American Revolution. Are we courageous enough to do the same today in support of the Principles of ’98? Before you answer, just remember that freedom isn’t free and consider, in a metaphorical way of course, what Benjamin Franklin once said about hanging together. I pray that our courage and our unity will not be found wanting.

The executive director of the ACLU, speaking for many on the left and among Americans who generally favor the Democratic Party, began an important talk last week saying, “I’m going to start provocatively … I’m disgusted with this president.”

Why? “It’s 18 months and, if not now, when? … Guantanamo is still not closed. Military commissions are still a mess. The administration still uses state secrets to shield themselves from litigation. There’s no prosecution for criminal acts of the Bush administration. Surveillance powers put in place under the Patriot Act have been renewed. If there has been change in the civil liberties context, I frankly don’t see it.”

It is crucial that Americans unblinded by partisanship recognize the abject failure of this administration to do anything on the civil liberties front other than cement and expand upon Bush power grabs.

From an article by Vin Suprynowicz:

If I invoke the phrase “Greek debt crisis,” do your eyelids start to grow heavy?

Do you somehow find it difficult to summon up a fresh wave of outrage if someone mentions that when Barack Obama’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform (better known as the Democratic Tax-Hike Justification Front) convened for its second monthly meeting last week, Congress was already 41 days past its April 15 deadline for passing a budget resolution – scared to death to admit, in an election year and the third year of the Second Great Depression, just how much new debt and spending they intend to crank up?

If these topics fired the American imagination, the most popular prime-time television shows would feature teams of CPAs wiping sweat from their brows as they raced to figure out a tricky tax return on their desktop calculators. “Go, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, go!”

So let’s try to avoid a page full of decimals and percent signs. Pardon my ballpark figures.

Go watch the federal debt clock. It shows the federal government – your congresscritter and mine – have promised to pay the folks who bought U.S. bonds $13 trillion which they don’t have. Your personal share – the amount your congresscritter and mine promised to squeeze out of you to pay off those IOUs, if you’re a taxpayer – is about $117,000. Make that $180,000 when all government debt is included.

Total United States unfunded liabilities? I believe that says $108 trillion.

With average family income at about $62,000, can you ever pay that off?

Mainstream media has recently reported the story of the alleged “Militia” group in Michigan which supposedly had plans of killing police officers as a sort of “freedom task”–in the name of Jesus Christ no less. In reality, “This is a group that [is] neither a militia [n]or a Christian group.”[1] This is not the first highlight of news where the media has misused the concept of a “militia” as a representation of everything evil and insane. Virtually every mainstream reference of “militia” today implicates terrorism, anti-American and wacko-extremists–right along with those Al Qaeda terrorists who are attempting to destroy America just because “we are free.”

From 1776 to 2010, the concept of a militia has been turned completely on its head. What was once seen as a necessary component of maintaining and protecting freedom against attacks by a tyrannical domestic government is now seen as a disgusting roach that must be stomped out of existence. Am I suggesting that some of these people who would classify themselves as a “militia” group are legitimately sound and constitute the real purpose of a militia? No. Just as I do not suggest that doctors who perform abortions upon the mother’s mere “choice” constitute actual doctors whose first purpose of treatment is to “do no harm.” We all know that a few people can give a bad name to the rest. What I am talking about here is manipulation to further enslave the people of the States, and empower those who control the federal government and global agenda.

There is without doubt a push and agenda by elitists, major media, politicians, and revolutionaries (who despise the ideals held by our founding generation) against the concept of a Second Amendment militia–one whose purpose is to provide for the protection of freedom within the state by citizens of that state: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Particularly, in context of this amendment, the ratifiers were sure to express that militias were to secure a free “State” (singular)–not a free “United States” (plural). Those who attempt to strip the significance and application of militias by replacing “militia” with the “U.S. military” are, quite frankly, ignorant of America’s history and constitutional government or are deceitful and manipulative for a certain agenda. As expressed throughout the Federalist and Anti-Federalist Papers, the people were more scared of a standing U.S. military than they were the U.S. Supreme Court.
