Unfortunately, the NRA is publicly lobbying against the passage of Missouri SB613, the 2nd Amendment Preservation Act.

This bill is THE STRONGEST nullification bill in modern times. By leaps and bounds. (learn about it here)

It would ban the state from enforcing any federal gun “laws” – and includes criminal charges for even federal agents attempting to violate the right to keep and bear arms in Missouri.

Top on the list in opposition: Democrats, Law Enforcement organizations, police chief organizations and the NRA.

They are opposed to an amendment added by anti-gun Senator Jamilah Nasheed telling gun owners they must report a stolen firearm to police no more than 72 hrs after the discovery of the theft.

They are also telling people this – but it’s not in the amendment: “Those who are unable to report a lost or stolen firearm within this arbitrary amount of time, would be subject to penalties including: a $1,000 fine, Class A misdemeanor and the loss of their Right to Carry Permit.”

Here’s the text of the amendment – it carries no such penalties.

We would also like to see this amendment removed from the bill, but killing a bill that would nullify every federal gun laws on the books over this amendment? We think that’s nuts.

Since there’s a long process for the bill, our strategy is to work to get that amendment removed, and have commitment from legislators to do so – instead of working to kill the bill early in the process.

There’s something wrong with their approach, seriously wrong.

We’re pursuing a strong path, and hope to have a positive update in the coming days.
