I agree, it shouldn’t be something that every candidate should sign, because we know that every candidate isn’t on this side. But as more people become aware, it will become a tool to say “Me too!”

This is a new campaign, and we’re still in the process of getting the word out. We encourage you to contact your own representatives – and any 2010 candidates you know of – and urge them to sign on as well.

Like Bryce wrote – our goal isn’t to “enlarge the tent” and find a LOT of signers. We made this pledge quite difficult – to help weed out many of the pretenders. And it’s doing just that. We’ll be posting some updates about what kind of responses we’re getting from legislators in the coming months.

Is there a list anywhere of candidates or politicians that have signed the pledge and reneged on their promise? Or one that shows who signed it and has actively stood by that pledge?

If they take the pledge in complete lip-service fashion, as I feel will happen, there should be a way for us to see that they are a 10-4 pledge fake…

Almost like a certificate of authenticity of standing with the people, verifiable… So they don’t just sign it and throw it up on their page…

I’d even like to contact those candidates and offer my thanks for signing it and taking a stand against the tyranny. Even though I’m (most likely) not their constituent, support is always vital.
