Painful as it is, this is actually good for the country as it is causing a true wake-up call and will result in a return to the original purpose and meaning of our constitution. In a sense, we are all guilty of allowing this to happen by taking our freedom for granted and assuming our so called "checks and balances" would automatically protect us. Wrong. Human nature is such that we all have to be watched and are capable of misusing or even abusing our authority in all walks of life. The framers were keenly aware of this weakness and did a brilliant job of creating a foundation to thwart tyranny at every turn. However, we the people must be willing to diligently confront and oppose infractions when they occur and our failure to do so has resulted in the utter mess we see in our government today.
