This is a quote from Sheila Jackson Lee on The House floor this week.
“The Fifth Amendment speaks specifically to denying someone their life and liberty without due process. That is what H.R. 2 does and I rise in opposition to it. And I rise in opposition because it is important that we preserve lives and we recognize that 40 million-plus are uninsured.”
She continued, “Can you tell me what’s more unconstitutional than taking away from the people of America their Fifth Amendment rights, their Fourteenth Amendment rights, and the right to equal protection under the law?”
Here is the funny thing about a right, it is God-given, not government created. Those rights include, Life, Liberty, and Property as the fundamental rights. So let’s take a look at welfare programs. On these programs the government uses tax dollars to help people that are in need. Helps them get food, shelter, and medical care. That sounds great, but how exactly does the government get the money to do all of this? They must take it from someone else. Therefore the government must take someone else’s life, liberty, or property in order to pay for someone else. This means that government is interfering with a fundamental right of one individual to give a privilege to another.
You see good medical care is a humanitarian issue that government is not able to fulfill. We are the great people of the greatest nation must help others who need it, but this must be done by people because the government doing it is tyranny.
That is something that Sheila Jackson Lee does not understand, taking rights away from people who have money and property and giving it to people who do not have much money and property is not establishing a right, it is establishing socialism.
Remember, if you agree with this logic that social security, Medicare, and Medicaid also fall into this category as well.

John Stacey, you can't be serious! You talk about "God" given rights? I would say, whose God, exactly. Let's assume there is no God, after all, for the sake of argument (although it is true in my opinion). Then where do the rights you call life, liberty, and property come from? Even the very words themselves are the artifacts of men!
I'll tell you where they come from–YOU. By your own definition, by your own understanding, by your own arrogance. I do not accept your definition of life, liberty, and property. Fathom that! And then, go review what Socialism really is.
I'll tell you where they come from–YOU. By your own definition
That is actually good enough answer for me. I define my own rights and no one can violate them. You may not agree with that but if our rights are defined by others then there is a good chance that they will not give you the rights that you want in order to pursue your own happiness. Allowing humanity and other people to define what your rights are is simply allowing your fellow person to put a chain around your neck and determine how far you may go.
I've seen some examples where socialism was put in place and it was not pretty. National Socialism was not a good working model.
Okay!
