I also know what marriage is and who created it, and it doesn't need sanction by the federal government. Insofar as benefits go...I agree...in the sense that the federal government doesn't have the constitutional authority to hand out "benefits" to anybody. Taxation should be applied to all people equally.

so....you want the federal government to be in charge of marriage, even though the founders NEVER had that in mind? Or, do you prefer to enforce your vision on a state or a local level? The latter, would be constitutionally-acceptable. Anything else, not.

I would certainly agree that tax kickbacks based off a marriage status is the biggest issue - and need to be eliminated. Your religious view of marriage is not threatened by someone else not following it, of course. Only you can threaten your own eternal future.

I don't 'fear same sex relationships', I just know what marriage is and who created it. These are The United States, people are generally free to do what they want, but you can't sell a horse and call it a cow. Neither can you call a relationship between two men or two women "marriage". So the problem isn't that people need to be able to be called 'married' regardless of what kind of relationship they are in, it's that the federal government should NOT be handing out rights, liberties or benefits (that are not theirs to give in the first place), based on what relationship someone is in.

Aside from that I agree whole heartedly with your article.

When the people fear the government there is tyranny, but when the government fears the People there is liberty.

The fears of 9/11 brought us the Patriot Act and the TSA. It will continue so long as We the People allow our government to ignore the limitations placed upon it by the Constitution. We will like in fear until all of our inalienable rights have been stripped away by a tyrannical government and the central banks that usurp our founding laws.

The only candidate that have consistently and persistently stoop up and shouted for the reform of Washington politics, a return to Constitutional limitation of federal government, and the end to the Federal Reserve Act, is Dr. Ron Paul. Congressman Paul is the ONLY choice that will return this nation to the economic power and the freedoms of a representative republic.

If we continue down the path of democracy and a nanny state, we will lose our sovereign nation and become slaves to the corporate world government.
