LAS VEGAS, NV (March 21, 2013) – Yesterday, the Nevada Chapter of PANDA (People Against the National Defense Authorization Act) announced the passage of a Las Vegas City Council Resolution rebuking the indefinite detention provisions of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
Just before noon Wednesday, the Las Vegas City Council passed a resolution rebuking the indefinite detention provisions of the 2012 NDAA, 5-2. The resolution may be read here at:http://tinyurl.com/cyu5bue. The Resolution will now head to the Clark County Commission; if passed, it would be the first Joint City/County Resolution passed anywhere in the country in response to the NDAA.
The 2012 National Defense Authorization Act was overwhelmingly passed by Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama on December 31, 2011. The 2012 NDAA declares the United States to be a battlefield in the war on terror and Section 1021 & 1022 authorize the indefinite military detention, without charge or trial, of persons on US soil. This violates at least 23 Articles of and Amendments to both the US and Nevada Constitutions.
PANDA’s Clark County Chapter Head, Daphne Lee, stated, “I am so incredibly grateful to the honorable Council members for supporting our efforts. I would especially like to thank Councilman Beers for helping me introduce this resolution to the board, and to Mayor Goodman for her amazing vocal support for the rights of all persons in Nevada. This action will support other cities, counties and states all over the country who seek to take a stand to protect constitutional rights.”
Christopher Corbett of PANDA Nevada’s leader said, “This is an important first victory in the fight to restore and protect civil liberties in Nevada. Hopefully this resolution will encourage the rest of Nevada to pass similar resolutions and state legislation.” There is already action under way to pass similar Resolutions in Northern Nevada. Both the Washoe County Commission and Reno City Council have agrees to look at this issue in the next 30 days.
State Senator, Don Gustavson, has also submitted a bill to be considered during the 2013 Nevada legislative session. The Nevada Liberty Preservation Act (SB378), which has 16 bi-partisan cosponsors, will support local government resolutions in securing due process for all persons in Nevada.
The Bill was introduced in the senate on March 18th, and has been assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Passage of the Nevada Liberty Preservation Act will demonstrate the Legislature’s commitment to Constitutional Law and Individual Liberty by affirming the right to due process to all persons in Nevada.

@ Bobbie Lebray: NDAA is National Defense Authorization Act, but sneaked into it are two provisions that allow Indefinite Detention of U.S. citizens for only suspicion of aiding "terrorism", no evidence required, no lawyer, no judge, no jury, no trial------NO DUE PROCESS
you obama supporters blow my mind...how can you get behind someone like this....he has lied to us time after time and is trying to subvert your Constitutional rights...its people like you who enable this monster and lets him think its ok to do what he does...you wont be so hAPPY WHEN YOU OR YOUR RELATIVES OR YOUR FRIENDS ARE ROUNDED UP AND THROWN INTO FEMA CAMPS "FOR THEIR OWN PROTECTION" YOU DONT THINK IT CANT HAPPEN HERE...THATS WHAT THEY THOUGHT IN GERMANY IN THE 30S... damn caps lock
In our county court house we also have an unblind-folded justice that has stood there almost 200 years. However, her scales are tilted. If you wonder in whose' favor come sit in one of these courtrooms.
The SIlver State again shows good judgment. In fact if you take a look at Nevada's lady of Justice who hold the sword and the scales of Justice you will see something that is very uniquely NEVADA: What am I referring to? Nevada;s Lady Justice is NOT BLINDFOLDED!
YEA for Las Vegas P.D. and City Council! I Hope ALL residents of your city remember the names Coffin and Tarkanian when it's time for re-election, so they don't get ONE vote !
Each and every one of the members of the City Council need to be educated about the real meaning of the word "Citizen!"
Hooray, Vegas. Federal statists, Democrat, Republican or whatever, get back within the bounds of our Constitution, or you'll be gone.
Coffin and L. Tarkanian are now on the immediate removal list... Get those anti american anti freedom scumbags out of there.... The should be publicly SHAMED for their vote on this.
Bob objected to some of the language and Lois isn't a Republican. the video should be posted on the LV City Council website soon.
Many thanks to everyone who showed up in support. We also got the board to delay a vote on a proposal that authorize drone testing in Las Vegas. This what can happen when people get involved in community and state government.
THIS is why one of the next satanic scum attacks will be on our local cops, shariffs and highway state peetrol. these are OUR cops. they are OUR guns they are OUR state rights with guns and uniforms... the hidden banksters hate our cops. the next major push is Not over with. it is just begun. these monsters do not stop for you or I. they get beat on the gun grab, they proceed to target B in keeping with the plan.
Will the media or the voters in Las Vegas pursue Bob and Lois to find the reasons for their votes on this subject?
I like the idea of publishing the idiots that 'FAVOR' kidnapping American citizens, without due process....
if enough states nullify NDAA, isn't there something in the constitution where in can be turned over completely, due to the fact the people DON'T want it???
