If you’ve been following our Activism 101 Podcast, you know that I’ve been involved in local activism taking on the surveillance state in my hometown. Well, I got some great media exposure on a local radio station recently.

On Sept. 13, I appeared on Kruser and Krew, on 590 WVLK to talk about surveillance in Lexington and our work to ensure that government agencies using technology that can potentially violate basic privacy rights do so with oversight and transparency.

Kruser and I talked about the surveillance cameras recently installed at a local skateboard park, the red flags they raise and more generally about the potential for abuse inherent in surveillance technology. We also talked a little Tenth Amendment. I explained how the federal government uses states and localities to create and maintain a broader national surveillance state.
