Will Cardoza and Jim Costa were opposed to the national health care plan last week, but oh how quickly things can change in Washington DC. This week, after Federal agencies lifted a controversial ban that had deprived Central Valley farmers of their essential water supply, Cardoza and Costa were suddenly found amongst the ‘yes’ voters by those projecting the outcome of a congressional vote on health care.
DC’s current contempt for both the US Constitution and Americans outside of the political class has been readily apparent in recent months. Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska’s vote-change-for-funding swap is just one recent example of the Feds’ brazen attitude, seemingly undaunted by ethical questions that are likely obvious to average folk.
In the light of this recent history, a logical conclusion is to say that Costa and Cardoza are the problem, for selling their votes.
Another viewpoint recognizes that Costa and Cardoza’s possible vote trades are only a symptom of a much larger problem-
That the inmates are running the asylum.
