I appeared on Veterans Radio along with Sgt. Dan McKnight hosted by David Gornoski to talk about the Defend the Guard Bill.

McKnight heads Bring Our Troops Home and is working along with the Tenth Amendment Center and other organizations to pass state-level legislation prohibiting the deployment of National Guard units into overseas combat situations without a congressional declaration of war.

During the interview, we discuss the constitutional role of the National Guard and how the state militias have been abused in unconstitutional wars. We explain how Defend the Guard can serve as a check on presidential war-making and pressure Congress to follow the constitutional process before sending American men and women overseas into combat. I wrap up the interview by talking about James Madison’s warning that “No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”
