Use ‘em or lose ‘em!

People who fail to defend their own rights will, as Joseph Hawley warned, quickly end up with none at all.

The People or State who will not or cannot defend their liberties and rights will not have any for any long time.

Here’s what the founders understood – but the government run “education” system today never teaches:

It’s up to us to defend our own constitution and our own liberty.

Writing in the Federalist, James Madison said the people and states should develop “plans of resistance” to counter federal encroachments.

And James Iredell  – one of the first Supreme Court justices – agreed. In fact, he expected the people to defend their own constitution.

“The only resource against usurpation is the inherent right of the people to prevent its exercise.”

Notice he didn’t consider this just a “good idea.” He considered it essential, the ONLY response to usurpation – or an exercise of power not authorized by the Constitution.

Here at the TAC, we take this responsibility seriously. We value our liberty and we’re committed to defending it against every attack. But we can’t do it alone. It requires a team effort, and that’s why your support is so crucial to this effort.

John Dickinson had a similar view, calling the defense of our own constitution a “duty.”

“It is their duty to watch, and their right to take care, that the Constitution be preserved; or in the Roman phrase on perilous occasions – to provide, that the republic receive no damage.”

It’s easy to point fingers and blame politicians for trampling on our liberty. But we need to take a good, hard look in the mirror.

Ultimately, as the founders told us – it’s on us.

Samuel Adams hit the nail on the head: We’ll have a real “land of the free” when the people love liberty – and have the backbone needed to keep it.

“The truth is, all might be free if they valued freedom, and defended it as they ought.”
