Freedom to Withdraw Your Consent

A tyranny begins when power is unchecked.

The federal government is becoming more tyrannical everyday that the people and the states don’t defend their rights. The shift has occurred because the check on federal power, largely responsible by state governments; has been trampled, bribed, threatened, or manipulated by those in power.

One should never forget it is the people that created the states, and the states created the federal government. ‘Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.’

The federal government is not the all powerful monopoly entity it thinks it is. Sure, the statists and elitists would like you to believe it is. All they care about is more power and wealth for themselves, by taking more control over you.

As long as they hold any power and control over your life they know you will become dependent on their decisions.

The true way to defeat this behavior is to know what they are doing to make you dependent. Always know your rights as a free human being to make alternate choices.

Ever wonder why some people attack individual liberties, free market principles, and freedom in general? The reason is they can’t control you if you are free to do as you wish. They can’t force you into their collective agenda and make you pay for the things they want.

So the best way for anyone to defeat tyranny is to simply reject it.

Withdraw your consent. If they impose an unconstitutional law or mandate, just ignore it, and find an alternate method that works for you. If they want you to use fiat dollars, exchange them for gold or silver. If they want you to use their public schools, teach your kids at home. If they want to vaccinate you, just say no thank you.

Your freedom to choose is the most valuable asset you have to advance liberty.

  1. I think Paine and Jefferson would be proud of this. Rothbard – definitely. This is right in line with our message here at TAC – the 10th Amendment movement isn’t about asking politicians for permission to exercise our rights…it’s about saying NO to the feds, and exercising our rights whether they want us to or not.

  2. Great read. Things will really get moving if more of the individual states start adopting this philosophy and begin nullifying federal laws that infringe on their sovereignty.

  3. The irony is that the most famous advocate of this sort of civil disobedience, Henry David Thoreau, is an icon of the Statist Left.

    Consider me with you.

  4. And the worst part is, they make you hate Thoreau in school. The teachers pretend he was some environmentalist wacko instead of what he actually was: A libertarian.

  5. "About the Declaration is a finality that is exceedingly restful. It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning cannot be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governmentsderive their just power from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when their was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. those who wish to proceed in that direction can not lay claim to progress. They are reactionary.

  6. The declaration of independence is not the constitution, Jeff.
