“Hope 2.0″: Left and Right United Against DC

Now is the time to expand the coalition of average Americans ready to push back against the corruption in Washington, D.C. Some weeks ago, I wrote about the opportunity that awaited our movement once belief in Barack’s “change” subsided and “hope” ran its course. It seems, now that Obama has had a full 12 months in office, great cracks and fissures have appeared in his support structure. The influential founder of the Huffington Post has come to realize that not even Democrats can save Washington from its corrupting lust for money and control.

“On the eve of the first anniversary of President Obama’s inauguration, it’s become painfully obvious that elected officials are not going to save us. The 2008 election was all about “Hope.” But Hope is simply not cutting it.

What we need is Hope 2.0: the realization that our system is too broken to be fixed by politicians, however well intentioned — that change is going to have to come from outside Washington.” -Arianna Huffington 1/19/10

I never thought I would ever even think this, but maybe it’s time for Arianna to submit an article to Tenth Amendment Center.

Huffington does a fantastic job of expressing what I have so badly wanted to tell her readership for months now – that Washington is beyond reform or repair. Her latest call to action is surprisingly similar to that of the Tea Party Movement.

    Bryce,

I admire your optimism, but I don't think Arianna is talking about the Tenth Amendment in that piece. She does mention looking outside of Washington for power, but then refers several times to the people "creating" the votes on Capitol Hill to enact "real change."

In other words, she hasn't given up on her "hope" of imposing liberalism or progressivism or militant socialism or whatever on the rest of us. She has just lost faith in Barack Obama's ability to enforce her agenda.

We can certainly ally ourselves with many of those on the Left, but only if they desire the same decentralization of power that we seek. Huffington doesn't know the first thing about liberty, she just wants another path to totalitarianism.
