Agree. I think if you really examine the purpose of money which is to accumulate things for your and your family's survival then the love of money becomes 'illogical' because if the purpose of that money is for the benefit of those you care about then how can you love it more than those who you use the money for.

Well said. And it's okay to love money (a little bit) as long as you don't hurt others while accumulating it.

I actually like money quite a lot. It makes my life much easier and benefits me and my fellow human beings. It allows us to live in freedom since it allows us to associate with members of society freely and by allowing us to obtain material goods from them without violating their own free-will over their own property. There is no difference between barter and using money since both are acts of trade that are needed in order for people to meet their economic needs.

I love money quite a lot but because money is more liquid it can be used for evil purposes by those who control it like government banks. Then it becomes a tool for evil minded people who want power over someone else and they don't use it for meeting their economic needs but for their need to control. But is that money's fault? I would say not since it is an inanimate object with no will of its own. It can't think of an evil plot. Only its owner can. Evil rest in the hearts of men/women and not in the inanimate objects around us.

I should have known a philosopher would get this! lol

I would say it's much deeper though:

The root of all money is self directed action: Freedom.

(self directed action referring to the productive work you accomplish through reason and exchange in order to provide for your own well being and the fulfillment of your values)

Actually, I think the author is referencing the bible which is often misquoted. The correct quote is: "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil." It is an admonition against greed but not money in general.
