Jeff–You make a great point. I have said the same thing often. But in this highly political time in the nation, it is easier said than done. It takes great discipline to not get side-tracked into arguing about your pet peeve.

The federalist argument that regulation should occur at the state and local level rather than with one-size-fits-all regulations at the federal level (tailored by lobbyists to suit big corporations) can even be framed using progressive arguments, which I have tried to do in chapters 2 and 3 of my book Timely Renewed: Amendments to Restore the American Constitution (see http://www.timelyrenewed.com).
