Rick Santorum Sounds Like Rachel Maddow on Nullification

Rick Santorum in New Hampshire, at an event held by Cornerstone, a local supporter of Nullify Now! New Hampshire held in 2011:

“We had a war about nullification. There was a war about nullification. The Civil War was about nullification, and I’m not sure I want to go there,” Santorum said. “If the state doesn’t like what the federal government is doing and they believe it’s unconstitutional, they can go to a federal court and they can take it up in a federal court. There is a process by which states can litigate.”

Seems like Rick got these talking points right from Rachel Maddow, who’s been saying pretty much the same thing for over a year now. For example, in her MSNBC segment last year called “Confederates in the Attic,” she said things like:

“The Confederacy and its politics are in fashion again.” “Nullification led to anti-US militancy which led to cannons firing…” “Nullification, which helped steer South Carolina into its militant anti-US stance is now enjoying a remarkable renaissance.”

Does that make you pause? It should.

By the way, the Nullification Crisis in South Carolina did NOT “lead to the civil war” as so many idiots claim. That happened almost 30 years prior. Read about it here. And, when the South seceded, it wasn’t an expansion of their nullification efforts. South Carolina’s complaint – which led to their secession was because of the NORTH using nullification. The secessionists were opposed to the nullifiers. Read about that one here.

No Kidding, this is so true. But this example of Rick Santorum is great, this guy scares the crap out of me.

His record to limit Government suffers greatly as well. But statements like these should be taken in for determination because it shows how far off this ship this guy is. I am sure that is why he does not want to go there, its hard to have certainty about something you have no clue about. I call this pretending and every time I see him that is the feeling I get, someone who pretends to know anything and that is SCARY and reminds me of Hilary.
