Looking for that special gift for your family this holiday season? Why not signup for New Orleans Homeland Security’s “Platinum” spy on your neighbors cam-share club?

According to an article in the Advocate, New Orleans law enforcement and the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP) have just created a “platinum” spying program that encourages homeowners and business owners to spy on everyone in real-time.

“The New Orleans Police & Justice Foundation’s SafeCam NOLA program, which allows residents to register their cameras with NOPD, recently launched its “platinum” program that connects cameras to the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC). The program debuted in October, and its public launch is among 2019 budget priorities with the city’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, along with the other surveillance camera expansions.”

Remember that dated saying, “keeping up with the Jones?”  Well, NOHSEP has even screwed that up. Because now New Orleans residents can spy on the Jones’s in real-time.

Apparently, New Orleans was not content with turning “Mardi Gras and Bourbon Street into the largest spying network in the country.”

New Orleans Homeland Security’s RTCC SafeCam Platinum program is a disgusting attempt to add exclusivity to spying on your neighbor.

“SafeCam Platinum is an exciting new opportunity to connect your home or business with the City of New Orleans by sharing your public-facing security camera footage directly with the Real Time Crime Center!”

Here’s how it works:

Homeowners and business owners have to go to SafeCamNola.com and select a partner integrator or DHS approved seller. Then they need to schedule an appointment with the partner integrator (NOHSEP approved installer) so they can install their “public-facing cameras”. Then they will be allowed to transmit live video to the RTCC.

Being a member of NOHSEP’s exclusive platinum spying club lets homeowners and business owners “enjoy the benefits of RTCC integration with shared video in real time.”

Below is a list of NOHSEP approved cameras and installers:

EPIC Tek Solutions,
Campo Better Living (security),
Watchman Secure Review,
LATECH (Security and Surveillance)
All State Protective Services (They don’t have a website.)

Business owners and residents interested in joining NOHSEP’s platinum spy club are encouraged to reach out to a “Quality of Life Officer” in their district. Does anyone really think that spying on everyone will raise our quality of life?

According to a recent article in NOLA,  Homeland Security’s mission is to increase government surveillance from 340 cameras to more than six thousand.

“The Real-Time Crime Center could also access 6,000 cameras registered through the SafeCam NOLA and SafeCam Platinum programs.”

Can’t afford to join NOHSEP’s Platinum Spying Club? Feeling marginalized because you live in a lower-income neighborhood?  Don’t worry homeland security wants to spy on you too.

“In efforts to ensure surveillance cameras reach lower-income and high-crime areas, the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation offers cameras, including free installation, through private donations and grants. In exchange for “hosting” a camera, the citizen is asked to cooperate with any police requests for access to footage.”

Earlier this year, I warned everyone that there are at least thirty different types of police cam-share programs.

Because nothing says holiday spirit quite like a bunch of free DHS surveillance cameras.

To show your appreciation for police spying, residents are encouraged to “Geaux Blue” (Go Blue).

“September 13th has been declared to be Geaux Blue NOLA Day by the New Orleans City Council and encourages everyone who lives, works, and plays in New Orleans to wear blue all day, and to adorn their homes and businesses with the color blue to demonstrate our appreciation for our New Orleans Police Officers and their families.”

Not only has DHS succeeded in turning law enforcement into heroes by helping pass laws that make it a hate crime to target police officers but they also helped push the Blue Lives Matter movement which started in NYC. DHS and the NYPD have a very close relationship.

Let’s stop treating police like heroes and start treating them like the government shills they are.

If you are like me and you are tired of homeland security and law enforcement turning our country into a mirror image of China. I encourage you to speak out,  join an activist group and hold our politicians accountable. Creating an exclusive platinum spying club is only the beginning.
