Two months may seem like a long time in the political arena, when loyalties can swing wildly from week-to-week, financial woes may cripple, and the most vocal of activists quails at the possibility of some serious work. But for the past two months in Missouri, when the August 20, 2011 Kansas City Nullify Now event injected a much needed Constitutional boost into our floundering State โ weโve been encouraged to see some of the groundwork laid for a return to principals of Sovereignty and limited Government once again.
Following the event, a number of local media sources reported on the day-long conference, such as the Platte County Landmark, the Kansas News Press, the New American, and the Topeka Capital Journal. Generating no small amount of buzz, Missouri Tenth witnessed as the community raised curious questions in regards to Nullification, were in turn met with facts and friendly discourse, and usually left in agreement that, โYes โ this can work!โ
But letโs be clear. The Nullify Now event, which was extremely well attended by numerous Missouri and Kansas citizens from all walks of life (as well as representing numerous groups from across our land), isnโt finding success through attendees occupying a space for a period of timeโฆbut because our people have been utilizing what theyโve learned to influence enduring change. This change, brought through a sometimes arduous task of sharing facts and rational discussion, and the patient goal of stopping unconstitutional Federal intrusions, has been strengthened through networking, numerous phone-calls to leadership, and even the leaders themselves (some of who attended the event), interposing on behalf on the Missouri people.
Because while Missouri may be known as the โShow-Me Stateโ, Missouri in recent months might instead be known for โThinking Big โ with Results!โ Through the efforts of numerous Missourians, weโve managed to bring awareness to such important issues as Proposition Cโs 71% passage at the polls, our refusal to accept the โordainedโ president pro tem of the Senate, beginning a serious dialogue about nullification, and halting bad legislation (bills calling for a Constitutional Convention, setting up an Obamacare Insurance Exchange, eliminating the electoral college, and reducing the size of the House of Representatives).
More recently, through dedicated efforts like the folks at the Show-Me Institute, weโve played a major role in stopping the China-Hub bill, which seemed like aย โsure thingโ in regards to the many millions of dollars and high powered lobbyists behind it! (See the Aerotropolis Case Study)
And additionally, weโve begun a critical project to help โDraft Ed Martinโ for Governor of Missouri. Ed Martin, who is a strong advocate for the Constitution, and interposition between the Federal Government and the Sovereign individual, is a leader who wonโt stand by and allow further Federal intrusion โ as Governor Nixon has done. Rather, itโs believed that Mr. Martin will help encourage a restoration of the โstarโ of our Missouri Republic, and help set it into a place of brilliance and cherished liberty amongst the field of blue.ย
But while we are encouraged by what weโve observed happening across our State as of late, we understand the work is far from done! True Liberty, the kind that men like Thomas Jefferson envisioned, and Patrick Henry fought for, isnโt always easy to obtain โ nor maintain. But we who stand together in Missouri, and with our friends throughout our United States, are confident that truth will prevail, and that the Constitution will endure…every Issue, Every Time. No Exceptions, No Excuses.
