Over at Reason, Damon Root asks, Will Liberals Learn to Love the 10th Amendment? He writes:
Liberals today are more likely to view Scalia’s handiwork in a far more favorable light. That’s because Printz now serves as perhaps the single best legal precedent in support of the constitutionality of so-called sanctuary cities—municipalities that either won’t help the federal government round up and deport undocumented immigrants or otherwise refuse to participate in the enforcement of federal immigration laws.
The question, unfortunately, is left unanswered. Â So I’ll offer my own.
Liberals will absolutely learn to love the 10th, they already have. It’s the refuge for those out of power.
But the fact is this – It’s all fair-weather, just like the other side.
However, in the long run, I think the more these groups are forced to rely on the truth, the more the truth will actually catch-on in the mainstream.
Preach away, lefties!
