Allowing your government to have secrets is dangerous to your liberty.
Some states that have not been able to pass asset forfeiture reforms have taken a small first step of imposing asset forfeiture reporting requirements on police. This may not seem very important, but it creates the foundation for further reforms. And in and of itself — sunshine is the best antiseptic.
