A free people CLAIM their rights, as derived from the laws of nature, and not as a gift of their chief magistrate.
That was Thomas Jefferson, and he was right.
Relying on government to limit its own power is as absurd as waving the constitution at people and hoping they’ll follow it.
But that’s what most people have done for generations. And today, we live under the largest government in history.
It’s up to the people to keep things in check, by refusing to participate in their unconstitutional programs.
It’s not going to be easy, but Thomas Paine nailed it – “Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it.”
