Most people in the U.S. revere George Washington. But sadly, most people reject his foreign policy.
In this episode of the podcast, I give an overview of Washington’s foreign policy and talk about why we should consider it today.
LISTEN
Many consider Washington to be the greatest American leader in history. He was not only a great general, but he also served as the first president setting many precedents that endure to this day. And his greatest act was his last. He walked away from power at a time when he could have effectively served as an elected king for life.
But if you start discussing Washington’s foreign policy, most people will crinkle their nose. They will call it naive, if not downright dangerous.
I think we’d be a lot better off if American foreign policy looked a little more like Washington’s and less like Hillary Clinton’s, George Bush’s, Barack Obama’s Joe Biden’s et al.
