West Virginia Action Alert: Help Nullify Federal Gun Control

On Jan. 9, Delegate Cindy Frich of West Virginia introduced HB2832 in the West Virginia Legislature. The legislation would “create the ‘Firearm Protection Act’ that provides that any federal law effective after March 1, 2013 which attempts to ban semiautomatic firearm or to limit the size of a magazine of a firearm or other limitation on firearms in this state is unenforceable in West Virginia.” (learn more about the bill here)

STATUS – referred to the House Judiciary committee where it will require a majority vote to move forward to the full House.

YOUR ACTION IS NEEDED NOW.  It doesn’t matter where West Virginia you live, take these actions today.

1. Call the Committee Chair, Tim Manchin.  Strongly, but respectfully urge him to move this important bipartisan bill forward to a vote in his committee.  A phone call has 10x the impact of an email.

2.  Call the rest of the committee members.  Again, be strong, but respectful. Urge each of them to take action to move the bill forward and vote YES on HB2832.  If they do not commit to a YES vote, ask them why.  If they’re undecided, let them know you’ll call back in a few days.

5.  Write a letter to the editor Look up your local newspaper and submit a letter to the editor voicing your support for HB2832. It’s essential that West Virginia no longer help but actively oppose the federal government’s attacks on the Second Amendment. Passing HB2832 will start that process.
