On Jan. 9, Delegate Cindy Frich of West Virginia introduced HB2832 in the West Virginia Legislature. The legislation would โ€œcreate the โ€˜Firearm Protection Actโ€™ that provides that any federal law effective after March 1, 2013 which attempts to ban semiautomatic firearm or to limit the size of a magazine of a firearm or other limitation on firearms in this state is unenforceable in West Virginia.โ€ (learn more about the bill here)

STATUS – referred to the House Judiciary committee where it will require a majority vote to move forward to the full House.

1. Call the Committee Chair, Tim Manchin. ย Strongly, but respectfully urge him to move this important bipartisan bill forward to a vote in his committee. ย A phone call has 10x the impact of an email.

2. ย Call the rest of the committee members. ย Again, be strong, but respectful. Urge each of them to take action to move the bill forward and vote YES on HB2832. ย If they do not commit to a YES vote, ask them why. ย If theyโ€™re undecided, let them know youโ€™ll call back in a few days.
