The first thing I think of, oddly enough, is that World War II was the last time Congress and the Executive followed the Constitution on war powers. Congress declares war – and then the executive wages it. In WWII, this happened on 12-08-41 for Japan, and 12-11-11 for Germany.
Police actions, AUMF’s, letting the president decide – or any of the other lies we’re told by the politicians, the media, and those who profit from war – are little more than nonsense.
This is a sad day, for many reasons. Hopefully the people of this country can make it – and every day – something to celebrate in the fture.
