Several state gun rights organizations say they support a state initiative to protect the right to keep and bear arms from federal infringement.

Arizona State Senator Kelli Ward has introduced SB 1294, the Tenth Amendment Center’s Second Amendment Preservation Act. The bill would nullify all federal attempts to infringe on the rights of the people of Arizona to keep and bear arms, as protected by both state and federal Constitutions.

SB1294 would prohibit state or local cooperation with enforcement of any federal gun laws.

The measure has gained the support of several prominent pro-rights organizations such as the Gun Owners of America and the Arizona Citizens Defense League, the state’s preeminent pro-gun lobby.

Ward explained the impetus behind the bill.
“We’ve sat back and allowed the federal government to trample the constitution long enough. We’re going to pass this bill and stop the state of Arizona from helping the feds violate your rights.”
The legislation recently passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee and moved on to the Senate Rules Committee for further consideration.
