With just about 6 months in our new recording studio under our belt, it’s time for the first round of improvements and upgrades. Thanks to some great friends who are professionals in video and audio production, we got the studio set up on a tiny budget last December.
Now, thanks to some great support and many new members, we’re able to make some small improvements that will help us expand what we do.
First of all, we’ve added a portable air conditioner – a TrippLite unit used for some heavier-duty situations, like cooling a small server room. We’re also working on some better sound isolation – replacingĀ the hanging “sound blankets” with some better quality studio foam – to helpĀ dampen echo and background noise on the ceiling and walls.
Once these are both done, we’ll be able to do some better quality lighting, cleaner sound…and the better temperatures will help us use the space more (it gets to 85 and up during hot days here in L.A.)
We’re also setting up to do some live video broadcasts soon. Ā For that, we picked up a new Sony A6300 cameraĀ with a 50mm full-frame lens, a Tascam DR60-DMKii to get audio into the camera from our microphones, a Blackmagic intensity shuttle to get the video and audio into the computer and out to the live stream, and a few cables to tie it all together.
Keep an eye out for more on thisĀ soon.
