Big Brother is transforming North Carolina State University from an institute of higher learning into an institute of constitutional degradation.

The National Security Agency recently partnered with NC State to create the Laboratory for Analytic Sciences (LAS) on its Raleigh campus, according to a recent press release.

“By immersing intelligence analysts with NC State’s diverse group of scientists, we hope to discover new and powerful ways to meet our foreign signals intelligence and information assurance missions – giving us an edge to better protect the nation,”  NSA Director of Research Dr. Michael Wertheimer said.

‘Protect the nation,’ of course, is a euphemism for the worldwide destruction of anonymity and privacy rights.

This isn’t the NSA’s only foray into the university system. On the contrary, the agency has long worked at subverting the mission of our public institutions, turning them into breeding grounds for spy recruitment and research. They have already enrolled 166 schools into their Centers of Academic Excellence program. The schools enrolled into this program have NSA agents train faculty and students to disregard the Constitution and help Big Brother. These schools also perform crucial research functions, allowing the NSA to more easily defile the Fourth Amendment.

Stopping these incestuous agreements between universities and the NSA will be key in stopping unconstitutional spying. When the NSA loses its grip over the minds of the young, talented Americans it needs to run the surveillance state, the whole operation falls to pieces. By spearheading an initiative to prevent their schools from cooperating with the NSA, students can help put the breaks on the Orwellian nightmare that the feds are cooking up.

ACTION ITEMS

If you are in college, check out the list of the schools enrolled in the Centers for Academic Excellence. If your school is on the list, start protesting and raising awareness on your campus immediately. Once awareness is raised, work to get a resolution passed by a campus group opposing the NSA’s partnership with your school. From there, work to get a resolution passed by your student body government opposing the NSA’s partnership with your school.

If your school does not have a partnership with the NSA, that does not mean you are in the clear. The NSA is always looking to expand its reach and get its tentacles into more universities. Launch a preemptive strike against Big Brother by working to get a resolution passed that stops your school from having any involvement with the NSA before it starts.
