Supremacy Nonsense

The feds don’t like Missouri and Florida standing up for real federalism.

They never will. And they’ll tell you that the “supremacy clause” gives them arbitrary power they don’t possess. This is the precisely why opponents of the Constitution warned that the “supremacy clause” would be dangerous. They were told not to worry. It would only be applied to laws that were made in “pursuance of the Constitution.”

That meant commerce and defense. Nothing more.

But this is also why the Bill of Rights was added to the document. Just to be sure, to be sure as the Irishman said.

Particularly that pesky little Tenth Amendment.

It is the fly in the ointment of a complete nationalist usurpation of power.

It was also simply insurance that the promises made in 1787 and 1788 would be kept once the Constitution was ratified.

Nearly every State submitted a “tenth amendment” among their lists of suggestions, in many cases as the first amendment.

That’s how important it was to the men who feared the new powers of the Constitution.

We’re now told this is “radical right-wing” nonsense. It’s their interpretation of the “supremacy clause” that’s nonsense, but when your civics education is dumbed down to “I’m just a bill,” then what do you expect?
